RUNNING FIT & MI DNR PRESENT - Snowshoe 101 at Maybury State Park and Pinckney Rec!

Participants will be introduced to basic snowshoeing techniques, snowshoes and accessories, winter safety and cold weather clothing. After introduction participants will go on a 60 – 90 minute hike around Maybury or  Pinckney Rec Area. Warm clothing is required. Water bottles are recommended.

  • Saturday, February 22 - 10am - Noon - Maybury State Park Novi, meet at Concession Building


  • Sunday, February 23 - 10am - Noon -Pinckney State Recreation Area, meet at Silver Lake Day Use Area

Look for the Running Fit sign and a group of people standing around in snowshoes! Please make sure your MI Recreation Passport is up to date!

TO BRING: Warm clothes, hats, mits, gloves and other warm items!  Dress in LAYERS!  We will start at the meeting area with some group instruction and then you will have the opportunity to drop some layers in your vehicle.  Once you are walking, running or hiking in the snowshoes you will warm right up! 

A limited number of snowshoes will be available to borrow.  No special shoes/boots are required to use with the snowshoes. Running shoes or light hiking shoes work out great, large snow boots will make your day more challenging :) If you need to borrow snowshoes, please note that in your registration so we can reserve you a pair.

Please note, participants must be 12 years of age or older.

In the event there is no snow, please join us for a winter trail run and winter running tips!
